Representative John Katko says he’d like to see Congressional action on nursing homes amid the Coronavirus Pandemic.
He’s introduced a bill that calls for a study on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and similar diseases in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
That study would look at a variety of components — including the role of updating HVAC systems, installing hands-free sinks, and other facility improvements.
More than 6,000 deaths in New York nursing homes call for significant updates to the way these facilities operate.
Many across the state operate in varying degrees of disrepair caused by the financial woes of this kind of healthcare.
