A legislator in Cayuga County, who has served the 9th District since 2017 will step down.
But he won’t be leaving elected office altogether.
Charlie Ripley announced this week that he would step down at the end of the month to go back to the role he filled for more than a decade prior in the town of Summerhill.
He will be the Town’s next supervisor.
Current supervisor Susan Stout noted that she was resigning for health reasons at the end of the month, according to The Citizen.
The town was looking for someone with municipal budgeting experience to fill the role given the uncertainty that communities like Summerhill are facing.
