A Steuben County woman has been sentenced to prison for her role in a two-car crash in Benton last year.

It happened in April 2019. Danielle Sexton, 34, of Canisteo was sentenced after pleading guilty to a felony count of vehicular assault and driving while ability impaired.

The crash happened when she was driving north on Ferguson Corners Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Hall Road.

Sexton’s vehicle struck a westbound car, which was being operated by William Spears, of Penn Yan. The impact sent both cars off the road.

Sexton was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital and Spears was transported to a local hospital.

Sexton admitted to being under the influence of several drugs – including fentanyl at the time of the crash.
