New York State Police say troopers are investigating an incident involving an off-duty Otsego County deputy at a restaurant in Camden.
It happened on Saturday around 6:56 p.m. when the deputy accidentally discharged one round from his handgun while sitting at a table.
The round went through the bottom of his pocket, through his pants, and ricocheted off the floor – causing an injury to a young girl, as well as a 38-year-old woman.
The girl was treated at the scene for a laceration to her right thigh and elbow, troopers say, while the woman was also treated at the scene for a minor injury to her foot.
Troopers say evidence points to an accidental discharge, but that the investigation remains active.
