Unemployment falls to 8.4% as US economy adds 1.4M jobs

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said in its most recent report that employers added 1.4 million jobs last month.

It pushed the unemployment rate down to 8.4%.

The data provides a little hope for an economy that was otherwise decimated by the Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19 – the unemployment rate remains high.

Before the Coronavirus Pandemic the unemployment rate was 3.5%. While it’s significantly lower than the near-15% unemployment figure that was seen just a few weeks ago – it shows that the nation’s economy has a long way to go.
