Sheriff: Man accused of falsely reporting bomb threat in Cayuga County charged

Law enforcement in Cayuga County says a man wanted in connection with a bomb threat that was called into the county building has been arrested and charged.

Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that on Tuesday Lenord Hamilton, 26, was arrested in Syracuse by members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, in relation to an arrest warrant issued by Auburn City Court.

The warrant was issued charging Hamilton with felony falsely reporting an incident, alleging that he called an employee at the Cayuga County Office Building – claiming there was a bomb inside.

Investigation into the incident revealed that the threat was false and without merit. Hamilton was arraigned and held without bail. He also had an active warrant for a similar incident in the city of Auburn, according to Sheriff Schenck.
