Police: 74-year-old resisted arrest after traffic stop in Penn Yan

Police say a 74-year-old from Prattsburgh was arrested on a variety of charges including resisting arrest after a traffic stop in the village of Penn Yan.

Raymond Galligan, 74, of Prattsburgh was observed driving on Liberty Street while having a suspended license, suspended registration, and no insurance coverage on the vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated and Galligan refused to cooperate, attempted to leave the scene, and physically resisted arrest, according to police.

He was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest, aggravated unlicensed operation, and other violations.

Galligan was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charges at a later date, police said.
