Traffic complaint leads to felony DWI charge in Wayne County

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Palmyra man following the investigation of a traffic complaint.

Deputies arrestd James Smith, 60, of Palmyra for felony DWI, felony DWI with a BAC over .08, aggravated unlicensed operatoin, and a number of other traffic violations.


He submitted to a breath test, which determined that his BAC was .09. Deputies say Smith had another DWI in the last 10 years, which elevated the new charge to felony level.

Smith was released and will answer the charges at a later date.
