The University of Rochester announced a $50 million donation from local philanthropist Tom Golisano to create the Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Institute.
This new center will focus on the care and research of intellectual and developmental disabilities, marking the largest single donation in the university’s history. Dr. John Foxe, the institute’s founding director, highlighted the impact of this gift, stating, “With your historic gift, we are now positioned to build a truly integrative IDD institute and launch a whole host of critical, new initiatives.”
University leaders say this donation will significantly speed up projects that would have otherwise taken decades to complete.
