Sheriff Kevin Henderson reports a boating accident involving an adult and juvenile male, which left one person dead.
Raymond Foster, 36, of Canandaigua was operating a personal watercraft with an 8-year-old juvenile in a small body of water when the craft crashed.
A bystander, Christopher Barber, 38, witnessed the crash and immediately entered the water to render aid. Deputies arriving on scene found Barber to be unconscious and unresponsive.
They quickly removed him from the water and began CPR. First responders from Shortsville, Hopewell and Canandaigua responded.
Barber was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital where hw as pronounced dead. The juvenile male was conscious and breathing upon police arrival and was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight for treatment.
Foster was also sent to Strong Memorial Hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
