Hair salons, barbers, and other types of salons will be able to open as part of ‘Phase 2’.
Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement on Friday, confirming what many in the industry had been hearing for weeks.
Social distancing will be required, and those entering will be limited to those with appointments – the mere idea of reopening is something many have looked forward to.
“I think it’s really important to have fewer surfaces touched. Guests will come in, we have a temperature laser gun that will take their temperature at the door if they have a temperature then they’ve got to go,” Tiffanie Tartaglia told RochesterFirst.com. She operates a local salon.
She says the calls have been constant: “When will you be allowed to reopen,” she recalled.
“I think we are a more controlled atmosphere. Like I said, you can take one guest at a time, you can clean in between, we have touchless surfaces in our salon. They’ll be staying in their chair, they’re not walking around, we won’t allow them in if they have a temperature,” added Tartaglia.
