The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of an Elmira resident following a traffic stop, in which the vehicle involved was found to be stolen.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on State Route 96 in Varick, and upon investigation confirmed that it was stolen from the city of Ithaca.

Ronald Ferguson, 28, of Elmira was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without an interlock device, and failure to change driver’s license address.

He was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

Deputies say the investigation remains open and active.
