On Thursday, Governor Andrew Cuomo extended New York on PAUSE through May 15th.
He confirmed that during a press conference, noting that while difficult – it’s necessary.
“I wish I could say this will be over soon, but I can’t,” he said. “We must make decisions based on the science and the data.”
He noted that the policies and rules in place are difficult, but necessary. “Social distancing works and it’s thanks to all of you. I know that New Yorkers will do the right thing because we are New York tough,” he added.
Cuomo noted that staying the course is important if defeating the Coronavirus will be possible.
New York on PAUSE means that non-essential workers must continue to stay at home until May 15th at least.
There will be a phased return to a new normal.
Business will reopen on a phased priority scale.
Business will reopen based on the risk posed.
We will work on a regional basis.
