On Thursday around 3:15 p.m. police responded to a residence in the village for the report of a 26-year-old male not breathing. Upon arrival, officers located a male, who was not conscious.
The initial call to authorities also indicated that the person may have had a seizure.
Officers noted signs of an opiate overdose and began CPR. They administered Narcan, and the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene.
The male was intubated, as first responders continued working to save the person’s life.
Officers found baggies of suspected fentanyl or heroin in the subject’s pocket along with a straw.
Police say the subject was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are warning that this is the second suspected fatal overdose in little more than a week.
