Ontario County company invents Ambu-bot, but it awaits FDA approval

There’s a well-documented shortage of ventilators across the world and U.S. That has been particularly well-documented in New York, where it’s expected that hospitals will run out of them in the coming days.

There’s a company in Ontario County that’s hoping to help the challenge by inventing a new technology.

It could save lives in the process.

It’s called an “Ambu-bot” and it’s similar to the Ambu bag used by emergency responders to help patients breathe.

Teknic, Inc., the Victor company behind the Ambu-bot, says their machine doesn’t replace a ventilator. It would instead be used as an alternative for patients who need some assistance until a ventilator becomes available.

“There are going to be people on ventilators and there are going to be people who need ventilators that don’t have any and the doctors are going to have to make a choice. These devices would help man of them or some of them stay alive at least for a short period of time,” Warren God, the company’s VP told 13WHAM.

They have submitted a machine for FDA approval.
