‘PLEASE BE SAFE’: Community rallies around those working through pandemic (photos)

Supports is pouring in across the region for first responders, healthcare workers, grocery store employees, truckers, postal workers, and so many others deemed ‘essential’ in this crisis.

They are on the frontlines, working overtime to keep society running.

A sign along Route 5&20 along reads, “Thank you to all of our nurses, doctors, EMT, truckers, postal workers, store employees. Please be safe!”

It’s a sentiment that everyone can get behind. Non-essential businesses that were closed have signs up – many of which read, “Be Open Soon,” but the truth is that no one knows how soon that will come.

Throughout the week, Governor Andrew Cuomo said that it would take time – weeks, perhaps even months – before the economy would be restarted.

To make matters worse, grocery stores are continuing to struggle to keep up with increased demand – as residents are left wondering what’s next.
