A manufacturing company in Canandaigua is hard at work to build masks for local healthcare professionals.
Select Fabrications usually makes shielding tents. Those are typically sold off to government agencies. Now though, workers are teaming up with another company — Turbett Surgical — to make masks.
At this point, workers are producing around 500 masks per day, the company says. “We just felt like it was our civic duty to help out, especially locally,” said Andrew Pluta, Select Fabricators’ president. “I know Monday, yesterday, we sent a lot of these to a local hospital for their use and we had the supplies and we had the sewing machines, so we felt like we could easily get something out to the public.”
The masks are being sold to hospitals at rock bottom costs — just to cover the basic labor and materials.
