Last weekend it was reported that one of the positive tests for COVID-19 or the Novel Coronavirus was living in Yates County.
At least that’s what popped up on social media. However, public health officials in Steuben County are clearing that up.
They spoke with Finger Lakes News Radio about the specifics of that case, as well as the process public health officials go through after a positive case is identified.
“They went to Penn Yan to stay,” Steuben County Public Health Director Darlene Smith told FLNR. She said they have stayed in Yates County several times before. “We’ve partnered with Yates County to investigate this case as well,” she added.
Officials report that there are two active tests pending results. A total of 19 have been completed, 17 of which came back negative.
