Geneva cop’s trial delayed due to COVID-19

The trial of the suspended Geneva police officer has been delayed.

That delay came due to COVID-19, or the Novel Coronavirus. Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts said the trial of Jack Montesanto — which was to start Monday — has been postponed, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

No date had been set, but courts were shut down on Monday through mid-May.

Montesanto faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal obstruction of breathing. He was arrested over an incident that occurred on July 23rd, 2019.

He’s accused of choking the victim while she was being booked. That victim temporarily lost consciousness while being choked.

The Finger Lakes Times reports that several police officers are expected to testify at that trial.
