The Hobart College lacrosse team defeated Colgate 21-13 in the Thomas B. Poole ’61 and Family Sports Dome this afternoon. Senior Eric Holden, sophomore Jason Knox, and first-year John Herlihy scored five goals apiece. The Statesmen are now 3-0 overall this season.
Sophomore Derrek Madonna and first-year Jack Grooms added two goals each. Junior Drew Blanchard went 16-for-29 at the faceoff X, and first-year Adam Shea went 4-for-10.
Hobart started the first quarter off with two goals. Colgate cut the Statesmen’s lead 2-1 when Cooper Belanger scored at 10:02. Knox and Holden added two more goals less than a minute apart to increase Hobart’s lead to 4-1. The Statesmen ended the quarter with a 6-2 lead. Holden ended the first quarter with 4 points (2g, 2a).

Hobart’s John Herlihy connected for his first career hat-trick on this goal. It was the 9th goal for Hobart on the game in this second quarter Herlihy goal. Herlihy ended with 5 goals on the game and Hobart beat Colgate this afternoon, 21-13. @HobartLacrosse pic.twitter.com/izdTqLSRbu
