Driver ticketed for DWI after fleeing scene of head-on crash; second driver airlifted to hospital

Deputies say the driver involved in a head-on crash in Tompkins County fled the scene on Friday around 4 p.m.

The crash happened along the 8400 block of Perry City Road, near Waterburg Road.

Deputies say a Markley Doane, 24, was operating a pickup truck when he collided with a Jeep Wrangler.

Doane then took off from the scene, but was taken into custody a short time later.

Following an investigation, Doane was determined to be intoxicated. He was charged with failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC over 0.08, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

The driver of the Jeep had to be airlifted to Upstate University Hospital.

Doane was released on tickets. He’ll appear in Ulysses Town Court at a later date.
