The Yankees have signed right-handed pitcher Chad Bettis, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that Bettis will head to Yankees camp on a minor-league deal.
Bettis, who turns 31 in April, has pitched his entire big-league career with the Rockies, debuting in 2013. His best season came in 2016, when the right-hander made 32 starts, going 14-8 with a 4.70 ERA.
But after a testicular cancer diagnosis that offseason, Bettis missed most of that season, returning in August to make nine starts. He went 2-4 with a 5.05 ERA.
Former Colorado Rockies right-hander Chad Bettis now has a locker at Yankees camp.

Because of absence of Paxton/German early, Bettis might have a route to make the #Yankees out of spring if they want to keep youngsters like Loaisiga/Garcia stretched at AAA. NYY likes Bettis’ groundball tendencies, ability to work multi innings.
