The Penn Yan Police Department reports the arrest of a 34-year-old on several charges after he violated a protective order, and fled police on foot when they arrived.
Aurel Jovanov, 34, of Penn Yan was charged with two counts of criminal contempt, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and harassment.
The 34-year-old is accused of going to a residence where those present had an active stay away order of protection against him.
Police say that when they arrived – he fled out the wide window leading police and deputies on a foot pursuit.
Officers chased Jovanov through streets, over multiple fences, and backyards. Eventually, police say they were able to take him into custody.
He was transported to the Yates County Jail pending arraignment.
