Deputies: Child treated at hospital after assault by caretaker in Ontario County

Sheriff Henderson says a 36-year-old Gorham resident was taken into custody after a young child was assaulted in Ontario County.

Linda Randall, 36, of Gorham was arrested at her residence on County Road 29 following an investigation into the assault of a 7-year-old child.

It was determined by investigators that Randall was severely impaired by drugs on January 14th while she was supervising several minor children. During the course of the day, Randall assaulted a 7-year-old who was under her care.

Deputies say the child suffered minor injuries and was treated at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.

Randall was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. She’s scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Randall was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Ontario County Child Protective Services aided in the investigation, according to deputies.
