Sheriff Tim Luce says his deputies helped the Geneva Police Department with a pursuit that occurred on January 16th around 2:45 a.m.
Deputies were called to County Road 131 in the town of Ovid for a one-car crash. They say that police in Geneva attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed on Route 96A.
Sheriff Luce says Shaded Algaithy, 18, of Rochester was taken into custody after crashing his vehicle in Seneca County. He fled down State Route 96A before he lost control of his vehicle on County Road 131.
Deputies say the vehicle struck a guardrail, and overturned in the roadway.
The vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash and was towed from the scene.
Luce says that investigators discovered that Algaithy was operating with a suspended license, and was arrested on several charges in both Seneca and Ontario counties due to the pursuit.
HE was transported to Geneva General Hospital for treatment of a concussion and other abrasions suffered in the wreck. Both the Ovid and Lodi fire departments assisted at the scene, as well as South Seneca Ambulance.
The charges in both counties will be answered at a later date.
