W-FL Friday: Wayne boys continue to roll; Lyons girls win eighth straight; Red Jacket boys barely get past H.A.C.

It was a jam-packed Friday night across the Wayne-Finger Lakes boys and girls basketball leagues.

On the boys side, the Wayne Eagles continued to roll. The Eagles picked up an 11-point home win over the Mynderse Blue Devils to extend their winning streak to four games, and improve their record to 10-1. Tyler Reynolds, Mason Blakenberg and Eli Schichtel combined for 44 of Wayne’s 59 points.

Also on the boys side, the Harley-Allendale-Columbia Wolves almost pulled off a major upset against the Red Jacket Indians. The Wolves lost by just one point. Red Jacket came into the game at 11-0 and H.A.C. came in at 2-6.

In a game with serious implications at the top of the Finger Lakes East, Geneva secured sole possession of first place with a win against visiting Waterloo. The win keeps the Panthers 1 game behind East leader Wayne heading into their match-up in Ontario next Friday night.

Finally, in Ganana, longtime head coach Jeff Thompson recorded his 300th career win.

On the girls side, the Lyons Lions won their eighth consecutive game over the Chesterton Academy Chargers. Lyons gave up just 10 points and won by 49 points.
