Firefighters prevented flames from spreading from one house on Lake Road in the town of Ontario to neighboring structures.
The structure where the fire was reported, though, was a total loss. Little remained Thursday morning as the sun came up in Ontario.
Ontario, Union Hill, and Lincoln fire departments were called to the scene around 3:30 a.m.
State Police were on-scene and conducting an investigation. First responders indicated that the fire likely began in the garage.
However, it’s unclear at this time how the fire started.
The couple who lived at the home, along with their dog were all able to get out of the structure unharmed.
This is a developing story, which will be updated throughout the day.
