Waterloo man arrested on four felony charges after welfare fraud investigation

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Waterloo resident on several felony charges after a welfare fraud investigation.

Deputies say Joshua Hernandes, 37, of Waterloo was charged with offering a false instrument for filing, welfare fraud, grand larceny, and misuse of food stamps – all felonies – after an investigation.

Hernandes is accused of fraudulently obtaining benefits from Seneca County.

All of the charges will be answered at a later date.
