Home destroyed, eight dogs die in Naples fire

Deputies say eight dogs died in a house fire on Lanning Road in the town of Naples on Friday.

An investigation is underway into the blaze, which was reported at 8050 Lanning Road around 1:37 p.m.

Deputies say the house was a total loss, and firefighters from the Atlanta and Richmond fire departments were called to the scene.

Deputies say no one was home at the time of the fire, but that it was discovered by the homeowner’s 28-year-old daughter who lives next door.

She was returning home from work when she saw the smoke and flames.

Deputies say the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious at this time. The homeowners were identified as Curtis and Kathleen Ridall.
