Seneca County Historian Walter Gable takes you through the history of country schools in the Finger Lakes. The country school was a very familiar institution in rural American until about 1940, Though most of these schools are gone, the school buildings built after the Civil War tended to be built so strongly that they are still used today for other purposes.
