First baseman Greg Bird has elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Bird was constantly fighting injuries during his time in the Bronx, most recently a plantar fascia tear in 2019 that held him to only 10 games. In his four years with the club, Bird hit 32 home runs to go along with 98 RBI in 168 games.
