Can you really serve 10 people on Thanksgiving for under $50?

With three days to go before Thanksgiving, there are many people who still haven’t picked up ingredients for the holiday meal.

According to this year’s Farm Bureau Survey, the average party of 10 will cost $48.91 for the entire holiday meal.

If you are one who still needs to grab your turkey and all the fixings, we went to Wegmans in Liverpool, Monday night to put that budget to the test.

The shopping list included: a turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberry sauce, a veggie tray, pumpkin pie with whipped cream and coffee and milk. All of these items totaled under budget at $40.95 (with the Wegman’s Shopper’s Club discount).

This can mean that you and your guests should still have not only enough to eat on Thanksgiving, but for leftovers too.

The Director of Community Relations for Wegmans, Evelyn Ingram said some tips on saving money during the holiday season can be making dishes from scratch rather than buying pre-made dishes, like veggie trays or pumpkin pies.
