LATEST: Water safe to consume in Willard, officials say

Update: Officials say boil water alert has been lifted

The Seneca County Health Department lifted the boil water notice that had been active for water users in the Hamlet of Willard.

Officials said bacteria samples collected on November 8th and November 9th all tested free of contamination.

Major water main break in Willard prompts bottled water giveaway in Seneca County

On November 7th at 10:48 a.m. residents in the Hamlet of Willard were directed to boil tap water that was being used for drinking, cleaning, and general consumption after a major water main break.

That break was fixed later in the day – but the boil water alert remained active.

It prompted Seneca County Emergency Management to arrange for 16 pallets of bottled water to be delivered to the Ovid Fire House.

Residents of Willard will be able to pick up bottled water – free of charge – until 12 p.m. on Friday; and then again between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Officials say additional testing will take place and that updates will continue through the following days.
