A new state law requires pharmacies to inform people of class 1 drug recalls made by the Food and Drug Administration within seven days.
A class 1 recall means the drug has a high probability of causing serious adverse consequences or death.
Previously, there was no requirement for pharmacies to tell people that a drug they received was recalled.
The law requires pharmacies to contact people by phone or email, and it takes effect immediately.
