Police tell residents to keep cars locked after rash of stolen vehicles reported in Auburn

The Auburn Police Department is asking the public to keep vehicles locked, as a rash of incidents are investigated.

Captain Jim Moore told Finger Lakes News Radio on Wednesday that leaving doors unlocked, or worse yet – leaving vehicles running could result in a tragedy.

“Over the last several weeks we’ve had nearly a dozen vehicles stolen, and eventually driven around the city,” Captain Moore said in the interview.

There was yet another report of an abandoned vehicle, which had been stolen on Wednesday, as Captain Moore wrapped up his interview with Finger Lakes News Radio.
