A 60-year-old FBI forensic photographer was found dead in the Nantahala National Forest.
According to WHNT-TV, a multi-agency law enforcement criminal investigation into Miller’s death is ongoing in North Carolina after she was found dead.
Kathleen Miller, a Geneva native went to college in Rochester.
Gail Jones, a lifelong friend of Miller called her a ‘beautiful person’. “She was fun-loving, very smart and very creative,” Jones said.
“She loved photography in high school and studied that in college,” added Jones in an interview with a North Carolina TV station.
The original 911 call came in when authorities were alerted that a woman had fallen into a creek. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene when authorities arrived.
District Attorney Ashley Welch told the Asheville Citizen Times her office was looking into the suspicious circumstances surround Miller’s death. However, the DA declined to say if they had a suspect.

The local FBI office has referred us to the Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. The spokesperson declined to tell us anything about the woman or her work with the FBI in Huntsville. @whnt https://t.co/yWuDVDY3k6
