Senators announce millions in funding to remove lead paint from homes

Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced that millions of dollars in federal funding will be used to protect children from lead-poisoning.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s High Impact Neighborhood Program and Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Program will provide the funding to remove lead hazards.

5 million dollars of federal funding will be for the City of Rochester, while 1.3 million will go to Genesee County.

“No child in the Finger Lakes Region should be forced to live in a home with dangerous lead,” said Senator Gillibrand.
