Officials say that a woman who was on her way for a weekend camping trip discovered a dead body in the back of her pickup truck in Niagara County.
Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies say the woman, who had departed from Wayne County Friday morning to go to campgrounds in Niagara County, had stopped in Wright’s Corners to shop for groceries at a Tops store.
When she opened the truck tailgate, they say the woman found the body of an unknown man.
Deputies say the investigation is ongoing. The woman had left home early Friday, and traveled through Wayne, Monroe, and Niagara counties, making a stop in Lockport.
Deputies are working to identify the man. Preliminary autopsy results could be ready by next week, however toxicology reports and other tests will take several weeks.
