‘It’s been a long road’: Abuse survivors reflect as window for lawsuits opens

Behind every lawsuit filed as a result of the Child Victims Act, beyond the legal terms, there is a very personal story.

Some victims of sex abuse are celebrating the opening of a year-long window which allows for civil suits to be filed. Others, like Ken Cubiotti of Gates, are more reflective. Sharing his story means reliving the pain he has long carried.

“I have this little guy inside of me that remembers before this all happened,” Cubiotti said, “And was a happy and was playful, and thought the world was a beautiful place.”

He says he was sexually abused for years by his older foster brother, Fr. Vincent Panepinto.
