A retired Auburn detective who “never gave up on a case” died unexpectedly on Tuesday, the Auburn Police Department announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Douglas L. Parker began his 40-year career as a patrolman in 1972 and retired as a detective in 2012, according to the post. Mayor Michael Quill deemed Jan. 27 2012 “Douglas L. Parker Day,” according to a proclamation attached to the Facebook post.
