Deputies: Auburn motorcyclist killed in Onondaga County crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck on Tuesday, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the victim as 42-year-old Christopher Barnhart, of Auburn. Kevin Doupe, 21, of Marietta, was operating the pickup truck.

Barnhart was traveling north on his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle when he “failed to negotiate a curve” and struck the south-bound Dodge Ram pickup, according to deputies. The crash occurred on Cedarvale Road in the town of Onondaga around 4:37 p.m.

Speed is believed to have been a factor, but the investigation remains active.

Barnhart was pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital.
