Stacey Pensgen announced on Twitter Tuesday afternoon that she's leaving WROC-TV (Channel 8).
The CBS affiliate’s chief meteorologist says that next week will be her last at the station.
“I have decided not to renew my contract when it is up this month,” she wrote. But, “I am not leaving TV and I am not leaving Rochester.”
She promised to “share more about the next chapter of my career here in Rochester in the coming weeks.”
In May, the Democrat and Chronicle reported that Channel 8 had posted an ad online seeking a new chief meteorologist, even though Pensgen held that title. Neither she, the station, nor its parent company, Irving, Texas-based Nexstar Media Group, would comment.
