An Auburn man who pleaded guilty to a felony weapons charge was sentenced Tuesday in Cayuga County Court to prison time, but was granted an override that removed violent felony status.
Quandelle Barksdale, 24, of 5 Grover St., Auburn, was stopped by state police in Aurelius in December 2018 for a right of way violation when a trooper found him in possession of a loaded handgun.
Simon Moody, his defense attorney, said Barksdale did not have a permit for the firearm.
Barksdale pleaded guilty May 8 to second-degree attempted criminal possession a weapon, a class D felony, Moody said.
