Way cleared for former school to be fitness center in Seneca Falls

The town Zoning Board of Appeals last week approved a use variance to allow the former St. Patrick’s School to be used as a fitness center, professional offices, cafe and salon.

The ZBA approved the application for the variance from Kingsley Kabari. His purchase offer for the vacant school at 81 W. Bayard St.was accepted by St. Francis-St. Claire Parish March 29, contingent upon him getting the variance.

Kabari, a graduate of New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, now operates Maximum Fitness in the Tops Plaza on Routes 5&20. That would close and move to the former school.

The older part of the school was built about 100 years ago, with a newer addition in the 1960s. The parish-operated K-8 school closed in 2005. The parish leased the school to the town of Seneca Falls for its municipal offices from 2008 until 2017, when the new town municipal building opened at 130 Ovid St.
