Geneva City School District Superintendent Trina Newton announced her intent to retire at the end of the upcoming school year – at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting.
The announcement came as a surprise to some in the district.
“I am extremely grateful to the board for granting me the opportunity to serve this community,” she said in a letter to board members. “It would be difficult to overstate how fortunate I feel to have spent the final years of my career serving Geneva’s children.”
Additional information was not immediately available about the next steps for the district.
