Former Interlaken police officer arrested on new felony sex charge

New charges were filed on Monday against Elesia M. Panipinto, a former Interlaken police officer and South Seneca School District resource officer, who was previously accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a South Seneca student.

On Monday at 5:10 p.m., the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office arrested Panipinto on a charge of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a Class B Felony for an alleged incident that took place on Saturday at a residence in Varick.

Police say that an investigation revealed that Panipinto, age 20, allegedly subjected a person to sexual contact while the person was unable to give consent.

Panipinto was arraigned in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond. Panipinto is to reappear in the Town of Varick on June 7th at 12 p.m.
