UPDATE: Auburn parking garage on restriction after weekend fire

Finger Lakes News Radio reports that restricted parking is active now after a parking garage fire in Downtown Auburn over the weekend.

They note that the upper-levels of the garage are open to permit holders only. While the lower-level metered section is open. The Court Street parking lot is open; and street metered parking is available.

During the weekend, The Citizen reported that inspectors would need to evaluate the structure before it could be reopened.

Parking structure suffers damage, temporarily closed after downtown Auburn fire

The Auburn Fire Department responded to the parking structure in downtown Auburn on Saturday after a fire was reported during the early-afternoon hours.

Around 2:30 p.m. a report came in for a utility vehicle on fire at the garage, according to first responders.



The garage suffered enough damage that it was temporarily closed. The Citizen reports that officials said after that the parking structure would likely reopen, but not until inspectors could verify that it was safe to do so.

The incident remains under investigation.
