The town of Owasco is awaiting the final draft of a consent decree from the state Department of Environmental Conservation after it was determined part of the town’s highway garage was built on protected wetlands.
While working with the town on an unrelated project, DEC staff determined that the town’s highway garage — specifically the recycling barn — was built in the buffer zone of a floodplain and must be remediated to its original state, Town Supervisor Ed Wagner said at a board meeting Thursday.
