Penn Yan woman airlifted after being partially ejected in two-car crash

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the crash that happened a little before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Lake to Lake Road and County Road 18 in Gorham.

Deputies say Edward Fraser, 67, of Churchville was traveling west on Lake to Lake Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road 18 and struck an SUV operated by Susan Hamilton, 75, of Penn Yan.

Hamilton was partially ejected from her vehicle despite having a seatbelt on at the time of the crash.

She was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of a collapsed right lung.

Deputies say it appears she didn’t sustain any life-threatening injuries in the wreck.

Fraser was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital by Stanley-Hall-Gorham Ambulance.

The investigation is continuing, and is being led by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

The roadway was temporarily shut down. That closure lasted a little more than one hour.

Gorham and Stanley fire departments responded to the scene. State Police also assisted deputies.
