Tim Anderson’s first career grand slam proved to be the difference on Sunday afternoon as the White Sox defeated the Yankees, 5-2, at Yankee Stadium. Chicago won its first series of the season, taking two out of three over the weekend.
“It means a lot for the team,” Anderson said. “We played well this series. Hopefully, we can continue it, keep rallying around each other and have fun.”
The White Sox were down, 2-0, in the fourth inning, when they rallied off Yankees right-hander Masahiro Tanaka. Jose Abreu doubled, then Yonder Alonso and Eloy Jiménez drew walks to load the bases with one out to set up Anderson.
